A lot of misinformed people are still under the impression that WP itself is insecure. Hard to say when WP gets over that perception issue.
WordPress “security issues” are 99.9999% of the time caused by: outdated version, insecure theme/plugin, hacked server. Not WordPress.
@iCosmin Agreed. Plus pretty much all “WordPress vs [random cms]” articles are pointless anyway (inconclusive “no winner” ending).

Use a caching plugin, maybe a CDN, your brand new blog probably doesn’t have to worry about a “traffic spike” significant enough to crash.
